Williamnagar, Nov 14: Educere Higher Secondary School, a renowned institution in Williamnagar run by National Teacher’s Awardee Gamchi Timre R. Marak, celebrated its 30th anniversary on Thursday. This milestone was combined with the celebration of Parents’ Day and Children’s Day, where students captivated the audience with vibrant performances.
East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Agarwal was the Chief Guest at the event, along with Social Education Officer Dr. Jilpash R. Marak. Key speakers included Dr. Aldrin B. Marak, Assistant Professor at DIET, Resubelpara, and Balmuri K. Marak, Deputy Director of MBOSE.
In his address, Chief Guest Vibhor Agarwal congratulated the school on its three decades of service in education. He encouraged students to use technology responsibly, highlighting the dangers of mobile phone misuse. He also advised parents to stay vigilant in this digital age and closely monitor their children’s online activities.
Dr. Aldrin B. Marak spoke about the current educational landscape, emphasizing the challenges faced by schools and the implications of the New Education Policy 2020. He stressed the need for adaptive strategies to address these challenges effectively.
Another speaker, Balmuri K. Marak, discussed the pressing issues facing today’s youth, such as depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. She noted that since the COVID-19 pandemic, the bond between schools, students, and parents has weakened, which has opened the door to issues like substance abuse and psychological difficulties in the Garo Hills region.
The program also included a felicitation ceremony to honor the school’s achievers, celebrating their dedication and accomplishments.
