Shillong, Oct 29: With the 3-months time given to independent inquiry Committee to submit its report on the alleged scam in power department coming to an end on Friday, but the committee is far from completing its task.
Reacting to this, Meghalaya power minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday said the government will extend the time period of the inquiry if there is a request from the committee for it.
Tynsong said that the government would also request committee to expedite the entire process of inquiry.
The state government had on July 29 constituted the committee and was given three months time to submit its report. But the three months have passed on October 29, 2021.
The committee is reportedly far from completing its inquiry as it is still awaiting for the papers and documentation from MeECL.
It maybe mentioned that the inquiry was constituted after various allegations were made at the power department of irregularities including the infamous Saubhagya scam.
