Tura, Dec 21: In preparation for the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024, the Wrestling Association West Garo Hills District (WAWGHD) met John F Kharshiing, Working President, MSOA on Thursday in Tura to discuss team preparations by the Association for the upcoming Meghalaya Games at Tura.

The 5th Meghalaya Games is scheduled to take place from January 15 to 20, 2024. This sporting extravaganza will mark its debut in Tura Town in West Garo Hills district.

The meeting was presided by Johnsonbon, President, and Sofia D. Marak, Secretary, Wrestling Association, WGH, in presence of Working President, Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA), other newly constituted office bearers and athletes of Wrestling Association, West Garo Hills district.

The meeting expressed their sincere appreciation to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri for their support with FOP items for the games.

With the games being hosted in Garo Hills for the first time since inception of the state, this represents a new dawn for sports in the region, and the district associations are hopeful for continued support to nurture future champions who can represent Meghalaya and even win medals for India.
