Guwahati, Nov 21: Over 100 educators from Assam and Meghalaya came together in Guwahati to explore modern, tech-inclusive approaches to strengthen environmental learning in schools.
WWF-India hosted the 2025 edition of its Educators’ Conclave on November 20-21 bringing together 106 educators from 56 schools under the banner of its digital resource platform, One Planet Academy.
Held under the theme “Raising Generation 30”—reflecting global goals set for 2030 such as the SDGs and the Global Biodiversity Framework—the conclave aimed at empowering teachers to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.

Welcoming participants, Archita Baruah Bhattacharyya, State Director, WWF-India (Assam & Arunachal Pradesh), urged educators to inspire students to “lead boldly and create a future where humans live in harmony with nature.” She said the turnout itself reflected a commitment to equipping young people with knowledge, tools, and motivation to drive transformative environmental change.
The opening session, Decoding and Raising Generation 30, led by Dr. Narayan Sharma, Assistant Professor at Cotton University, encouraged educators to rethink how schools can prepare children for emerging ecological realities. This was followed by A New Learning Ecosystem with One Planet Academy, conducted by educationist Mrs. Mita Nangia Goswami, who introduced teachers to interactive, digital-first content that supports hands-on and student-friendly environmental learning.
A key highlight was the hands-on workshop, Embedding Environment in Lessons, conducted by Mrs. Neha Raghav, Director of Environment Education, WWF-India. Teachers worked in groups to develop practical ways to integrate environmental themes and local issues into everyday lessons while nurturing curiosity and confidence among students.
A major announcement of the event was the launch of the One Planet Academy Awards, which will recognise innovative efforts by schools and teachers in environmental education.
Chief Guest Mrs. Krishna Barua, Managing Director, Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, Assam, urged educators “to join hands as catalysts in making children sensitive towards nature,” adding that the One Planet Academy platform provides the right push to inspire the next generation.
The conclave concluded with a reflection session where participants shared their learnings and outlined how they plan to implement new approaches in their classrooms.
