Guwahati, May 13: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Manipur police commandos arrested one alleged abductor and rescued a kidnapped youth from Manipur’s Thoubal district.
The arrested abductor was identified as Md Sharif Khan alias Masten (28) from Waithou, Thoubal district on Sunday.
The victim who was rescued from the clutches of the abductor has been identified as Md Amir alias Boboi, 24.
According to police, one 9 mm pistol with 7 rounds of live ammunition and a two-wheeler vehicle was used in the abduction and has been recovered.
The rescued youth was later handed over to his father Md Habibur Rahman.
The arrested person was handed over to Lilong police station for further investigation and a case has also been registered.
