Tura, January 25th: The District TB Centre, under Rangsakhona PHC, organized a 100-day TB awareness campaign at Sonamite, over 130 participants took part in the program.
Dr.Riksilchi Sangma, DTO Incharge of West Garo Hills, provided crucial insights on TB, covering its symptoms, causes, and preventive measures. She emphasized the campaign’s focus on strengthening diagnostic and treatment services, particularly for vulnerable groups such as diabetics, HIV patients, the elderly, malnourished individuals, and alcoholics. She also encouraged the public to become Nikshay Mitras to support TB patients with proper nutritional needs.
MLA of Rangsakhona Constituency, Subir M Marak urged the community to take full advantage of the health services provided. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the District TB Centre in identifying potential TB cases, especially among high-risk groups.
At Bhaitbari Community Health Centre (CHC), Dr. Mizanur Rahman Kaji, MLA of Rajabala Constituency, addressed the importance of early TB detection and consistent treatment. He highlighted the Nikshay Mitra initiative, which provides nutritional support and counseling to TB patients, and encouraged community participation. During the event, 90 individuals were screened for TB, and 32 patients received food assistance under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA), distributed by Dr. Kaji himself.
These initiatives aim to enhance awareness, mobilize community support, and strengthen healthcare services to combat TB.
