According to media reports, the journalist had questioned the bank’s Managing Director regarding the allegations before being detained. However, no official reason was cited for his detention.

The NHRC observed that if the report is accurate, it raises concerns over the violation of the journalist’s human rights. The Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and sought an explanation from the state police.
