Tura, Oct 1: Eleven criminals, including their leader, have been caught by Garo Hills police and three country-made guns seized from them in a long haul counter-insurgency operation that started with the arrest of the criminal ring leader on 25th September from the Hawakhana locality in Tura.
The police say that the gang was planning to set up an outfit calling themselves A’chik National Socialist council and preparing to draft the outfit constitution during their arrest.
They are accused of various crimes such as extortion, car theft and dacoity, including in the Tikrikilla region, recently.
From their possession police seized 2 country made shotguns, single barrel muzzle loading (SBML) guns, and a rusted pistol said to be a 9 mm calibre.
The group was in the process of opening one organization or NGO to be known as AKMA through which it was planning to collect funds that would be used to purchase weapons and expand the gang’s activities by recruiting more members.
