Must read

Guwahati, Feb 27: Around 3,000 anganwadi workers staged a massive protest at Chachal in Guwahati on Monday.

They demanded a resolution to their proposal for increased remuneration.

Earlier a proposal was sent to the administration on October 19, with a request of Rs 12,000 for the anganwadi workers, Rs 10,000 for the mini center workers and Rs 7,000 for the helpers. However, nothing has been done regarding the proposal till date, the protest on Monday was done in response to that.

It needs to be mentioned that majority of the workers are getting an honorarium of Rs 6,500 and are constantly facing a hostile work environment.

In the protest they declared to abstain from performing their duties if the administration doesn’t do anything regarding their demands.
