Guwahati, Aug 9: A total of 32 militants belonging to the newly-floated Bodo rebel outfit National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) laid down arms on Sunday at Jharbari area in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district near the Indo-Bhutan border.
A group of 32 NLFB rebels led by self style platoon commander B Harfer come out of the deep jungle of Indo- Bhutan Border on Sunday morning.The cadres will be taken to a designated camp of the outfit with police protection.
14 cadres of the outfit had surrendered the previous day.
A large number of villagers gathered at the spot with water bottles and flowers to welcome the members of the proscribed outfit. Some cadres of NLFB, who have already come overground, also assembled in the area to welcome their former colleagues to the mainstream.
Earlier on July 22, at least 23 NLFB rebels, including the chief of the outfit, M Batha, came overground.
The NLFB, led by M Batha, was formed soon after all four factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) signed a new Bodoland Accord with the Central government in January last year.
