TURA, Dec 2: The third edition of the Me·gong International Literary Festival, organised by the Department of Garo, NEHU Tura Campus in collaboration with the A·chik Literature Society, Captain Williamson Sangma State University and Don Bosco College, will be held on December 3 and 4, at D.C. Park, Tura.
Celebrated under the theme “Cha·chriko rongrikangbo, Rongjanggiko rongsikangbo,” the festival aims to honour the cultural legacy of the A·chik community while promoting fresh directions in contemporary literary expression.
The opening programme will feature the felicitation of three distinguished scholars- Prof. Milton S. Sangma, Prof. Caroline R. Marak and Prof. Fameline K. Marak for their significant contributions to literature and academia.

The event will also witness the release of three major publications: Ku·riping I and Birong Sika by Dr. Dorothy R. Marak, and the official documentation of the Me·gong International Literary Festival (Edition II) by the Department of Garo.
Following the inauguration, the festival will host a series of literary conversations and interactive sessions. Highlights on the first day include an in-depth dialogue between Dr. Colnat B. Marak and Prof. Caroline R. Marak, an Oral Renditions Session chaired by Melkior Chisim featuring prominent folk artists Paljen T. Sangma, Nikjrang Ch. Marak and Preman Ch. Marak and a number of engaging discussions involving emerging writers and scholars. The day will conclude with a colourful cultural programme showcasing local artistic traditions.
The second day will feature sessions led by inter-state delegates Hedrick D. Sangma, Shyam M. Sangma and Cliffson S. Sangma, followed by a conversation with senior contributors to Garo literature chaired by Dr. Crystal C. D. Marak. A multilingual poetry reading chaired by Dr. Nazina W. Momin will bring together poets representing Koch, Bangla, English and Garo literary traditions. Additional sessions will include a conversation between Dr. Rhinkle M. Marak and Tengnang Dawa Sangma, alongside a parallel panel discussion on “Garo Literature: The Journey Ahead” chaired by Dr. Rosa Ch. Sangma with presentations by leading Garo literary scholars.
The festival will also host a dedicated poetry presentation chaired by Dr. Dorothy R. Marak, featuring works by seasoned poets from across the region.
The two-day celebration of literature, culture and artistic expression will conclude with the Valedictory Function, marking the formal close of this landmark literary event in Garo Hills.
