SHILLONG, DEC 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has said that the Community & Rural Development department plays an important role in the economic and social upliftment of rural areas.
“The C&RD department has been performing well with committed and focused dedication in delivering schemes, projects and welfare activities to rural communities making a difference in the lives of the people in the villages,” Sangma said while inaugurating the office building of the Directorate of Community & Rural Development at Lower Lachumiere, Shillong on Monday.
Congratulating the department on the office building, the Chief Minister stated that though infrastructure is important for efficient and productive delivery “It is the heart and the soul with which you work that makes the difference.”
Sangma also emphasized that 80% of the population of the state is right under the people who are working in the C&RD department and said, “You have a great responsibility and I urge you to continue to work with the same commitment and dedication.”
Also present at the function were C&RD Minister Sosthenes Sohtun, Chief Secretary, Dr Shakil P. Ahammed, Principal Secretary, C&RD, Sampath Kumar and Director, C&RD, S C Sadhu.
