Shillong, July 22: Eight Bangladeshi infiltrators who were held at New Bongaigaon Railway Station on Tuesday have made a string of sensational disclosures, detailing how the infiltrators entered India through Meghalaya and, while illegally entering India, did not see any border guards patrolling the border at night.
The eight Bangladeshi infiltrators had entered India last night taking advantage of what they said was the absence of border guards at the international border while the barbed wire fence had “collapsed due to rain”, helping their illegal entry into Indian territory.

“We have come from Bangladesh. The barbed wire fence had collapsed due to rain and we climbed over the collapsed fence and entered India. There were no security guards there when we sneaked into Indian territory,” one of the Bangladeshi nationals who was held at the New Bongaigaon Railway Station said.
“We came from Bangladesh and were on our way to Chennai to work there,” another migrant said, adding that their group comprised eight Bangladeshi nationals, and crossed over from Jamalpur into Meghalaya.
Even alarming is the fact that one of the Bangladeshi infiltrator said there could have been more people who might have crossed over to Indian territory.
