Shillong, July 1: Member of Parliament from Tura, Agatha Sangma and Leader of Opposition in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dr Mukul M. Sangma have written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate necessary investigation into the death of two Garo youth from Nagaland in Gurugram, Haryana.
The death of Rosy Sangma and Samuel Sangma, two Garos from Nagaland’s Dimapur, under mysterious circumstances has created indignation in the north eastern region. Rosy Sangma died in the ALFAA Hospital, Gurugram, Haryana on June 24, 2021 after consuming ice-cream given to her by hospital staff while she was in ICU. A viral video posted by Late Samuel Sangma had claimed that his aunt Late Rosy was recovering and suddenly died after eating the ice cream.
Reportedly, the hospital staff assaulted Samuel when he confronted them for giving ice-cream to his aunt in the ICU, and not allowing him to see her thereafter. Following which he was found hanging from ceiling of the hotel he was staying at Gurugram the next day i.e. on June 25, 2021.
Agatha Sangma seeks investigation of highest order
In her letter to Shah on Wednesday, Agatha said (L) Samuel Sangma had registered a complaint against the hospital after sensing medical negligence that led to the death of his aunt, (L) Rosy Sangma. The subsequent death of Samuel in his room the next day has given rise to suspicion of foul play.
Looking at the facts reported by the media, she said, “Prima-facia this appears to be a case of orchestrated homicide, which requires investigation of highest order to unearth the truth leading to the death of two young persons in their prime.”
She urged the Home Minister to initiate necessary investigation at the earliest and book the perpetrators of the crime in consonance with the law of the land and deliver justice to the grieving family of (L) Rosy Sangma and (L) Samuel Sangma.
She has also requested the North East MP’s Forum to take up this matter with the Central government to raise their voices collectively and ensure justice is delivered more effectively.
Mukul Sangma seeks Shah’s intervention
