Shillong, May 29: Senior National People’s Party (NPP) leader and former Tura MP, Agatha K Sangma, has ruled herself out as a candidate for the Rajya Sabha, with one of Meghalaya’s seats in the Upper House set to fall vacant next year.
Dismissing any speculation about her potential candidature, Sangma said she has no personal political ambitions related to the post and will fully support whoever is nominated by the NPP leadership.

“I don’t have any such plans. This is entirely the decision of the NPP,” she told reporters when asked if she would be in the race. “I will support the candidate chosen by our party and the party president, and I will be very happy to do so,” she added.
While the NPP has yet to reveal its choice for the Rajya Sabha seat, discussions within the party are expected to intensify as the vacancy draws nearer.
