Guwahati, March 11: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), one of the parties in the BJP-led government in Assam, has formally announced the list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls on Monday.
The two candidates include veteran MLA Phani Bhushan Chodhury and former MLA Zabed Islam.
Veteran MLA Phani Bhushan Chodhury will contest from the Barpeta Parliamentary Seat, having served as an eight-time MLA from Bongaigaon district in Assam.
Former MLA Zabed Islam will also contest from the Dhubri seat.
Meanwhile, Raju Kumar Narzary from UPPL will contest from the Kokrajhar LS constituency.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned that discussions on the candidates took place in New Delhi on February 29, speaking to the media.
Notably, the BJP will contest 11 out of 14 seats, leaving two seats to its allies AGP (Barpeta and Dhubri) and one to the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) for Kokrajhar.
