AHAM detains vehicles with illegal timber in East Garo Hills, one held

Tura, Sep 13: The AHAM’s Eastern Zone, based in Williamnagar, detained two vehicles with illegal timbers being transported from Songsak and Rongrenggre forest reserves and also caught one Drill Ch. Sangma while he was allegedly transporting them on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the Aham stopped the vehicles, one Alto bearing registration number ML07-B9770 and one Bolero pickup bearing registration number As18-AC4160, on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the seized materials were handed over to the concerned department of William Nagar East Garo Hills.

It must be noted that this is not the first time that such an incident has taken place; earlier in August, the Aham unit from East Garo Hills district detained one vehicle carrying illegal timber exports from Songsak Forest Reserve to Assam, and the seized materials were sent to Songsak Forest Reserve, East Garo Hills, in William Nagar.
