AICC Meghalaya incharge to visit Shillong on Jan 11

Shillong, Jan 10: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) Incharge Meghalaya, Manish Chatrath will visit Shillong on Monday.

During his two-day maiden visit to the state capital, Chatrath will meet Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee leaders, legislators, workers, and grassroots workers beside the office bearer.

AICC incharge Meghalaya, Chatrath said, “I am reaching Shillong on January 11th. I will be there for two days and will hold meetings with the legislators, party workers, and office bearers, besides others.”

Speaking about his main purpose of the visit, the AICC leader said, he will discuss with the state leadership how to strengthen the Congress apart from planning out future agitation programmes.

Stating that his visit is delayed due to the pandemic crisis, he said, “Basically the idea is to get to know each and everyone, although, I had zoom meetings with them, but physically once you need to meet because earlier, in the month of September they said, the pandemic is on a very high and borders are sealed so couldn’t come.”

According to the schedule, On Monday at around 4 pm, the MP and the MLAs will be meeting Chatrath at Congress Bhawan Shillong. while, on the next day a meeting is scheduled with the Members of District Councils representing Congress, on the same day he will be meeting Ex MPs, Ex MLAs and Ex MDCs.

The meeting with the Block Congress Committee and the District Congress Committee Presidents is also scheduled for Tuesday.

A Congress circular said that the AICC leader will also interact with the Chiefs of Frontal Organisations and Heads of MPCC Departments.

Following the scheduled Public Accounts Committee meeting in Garo Hills, three Congress legislators will be meeting the AICC Incharge on 13 January before his departure.

Asked about the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) new president issue which was a major topic of discussion, Chatrath, who believes in working together as a team, said, “We will definitely take views of what the state leadership says, we will take a collective decision only.”

He further asserted that no decision will be made individually as he will take into consideration the views of the state Congress leadership.

The Congress leader also spoke about grooming the upcoming leaders in the party as they gear up for the 2023 election.
