Dibrugarh, May 14: The escort vehicle of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi met with a road accident in Assam’s Dibrugarh on Monday night.

According to reports, Lurinjyoti Gogoi along with his security personnels were enroute Dibrugarh to Lahowal when the escort vehicle met with an accident.

The escort vehicle’s driver lost control and veered off the road in Dibrugarh’s Bokpora area to save a cyclist coming from the opposite direction.

According to reports, six persons suffered injuries in the mishap. The injured persons have been admitted at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for medical treatment.

The vehicle identified as an Innova bearing registration no (AS01BT6376) was severely damaged in the incident.

Talking to media persons, Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, “we were going to participate in a Bihu programme. The escort vehicle was behind my vehicle, suddenly, a cyclist came from the opposite direction and to save the cyclist the vehicle lost control and met with an accident. One of them bore serious head injury but doctors have said that his condition is stable,”.
