Dimapur, Feb 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) has shown trust in the Modi-government by withdrawing its call to boycott the Nagaland assembly polls.

“It is heartening that in an expression of trust in the Modi government, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) in Nagaland has withdrawn its call to boycott the assembly elections. The decision will help in keeping the ongoing process of peace & development unhindered,” Amit Shah tweeted on Saturday.

Earlier, ENPO demanded for political solution before elections and later decided to refrain from participating in elections but after an emergency meeting, they have decided to participate in the upcoming polls.

ENPO was in talks with MHA on the demand of a frontier Nagaland state.

The ENPO, an apex tribal group of Nagaland has influence in six districts of Eastern Nagaland.

The BJP-NDPP alliance will contest the upcoming Nagaland election together on 20:40 seat sharing basis.

The Nagaland will go for polls on February 27 and the results will be declared on March 2.
