Boko, Aug 30: A government official and his wife were brutally attacked inside their home in the early hours of Saturday at Chitlamari–Bongaon village under Tiplai area of Dhupdhara Police Station. The incident occurred around 2 am on Saturday when a gang of five armed men broke into the residence of Sushil Kalita, a land mandal posted at Rongjuli Revenue Circle. The robbers forced their way in by breaking the lower section of the main gate and stormed the house while the couple was asleep.

Namita suffered a severe head injury, while Sushil was hit on his arm. The couple was then tied up and gagged as the gang ransacked the house, scattering belongings and breaking open the almirah.
The robbers fled with a substantial amount of cash and around 15 tolas of gold ornaments. Armed with pistols and khukuris, they also removed the CCTV device installed in the house to erase evidence.
Alerted by family members, Dhupdhara Police and Dudhnoi SDPO Nupur Ranjan Neog reached the spot and rushed the injured couple to Rongjuli Hospital. They were later referred to Guwahati for advanced treatment.

Senior police officials, including Goalpara SP Nabaneet Mahanta, visited the site, while a forensic team has begun investigation.
