Tura, Aug 2: Frustrated and desperate after being without cellular network for 2 months, the residents of Asokgre village in South Garo Hills have reached out to the Deputy Commissioner about this concerning issue and sought his intervention for immediate restoration of cellular services in their area.
In a letter to the DC on Thursday, signed by 63 villagers, the residents informed that previously, the Asokgre residents relied on network coverage from the Gittinggre Airtel/Jio tower, located approximately 3.5 km away. However, for the past two months, they have experienced a complete lack of network connectivity, leading to significant inconvenience.
“Since June (2024), we have experienced a complete lack of network services,” they said.
They further lamented that, “This issue is causing significate inconvenience, affecting not only working professionals but also students who are engaged in online education. Despite numerous complaints lodged with the service providers, no action has been taken to resolve this issue.”
The villagers have urged the Deputy Commissioner to intervene and ensure the restoration of network connectivity at the earliest.
