Assam: 28-year old man killed by auto driver in Bengaluru over fare dispute

Guwahati, June 13: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old Assam man was killed after altercation with an auto driver in Bengaluru over excessive fare charges.

The victim has been identified as Ahmad. Ahmad and his brother Ayub were attacked near the Yeshwanthpur Soap Factory in the Subramanyanagar police station area.

Meanwhile, the accused auto driver identified as Ashwath, has been apprehended by the police.

According to Police, Ahmad and Ayub had hailed an auto to commute from their workplace to their residence in the Yeshwantpur locality. After reaching their destination, the driver, Ashwath insisted on charging double the regular fare.

Police official sais when the brothers questioned the driver why he was demanding more money, the situation escalated into violent altercation and the driver attacked the brothers with a weapon.

“The auto driver was arrested and further investigation has been stated,” said police official.
