Must read

Guwahati, Jan 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched a state wide wall-painting campaign ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in March–April.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia flagged off the campaign in Guwahati, with party leaders and workers set to carry out similar activities across the state.

Painting the party’s symbol, the lotus, on a wall here, Sarma said, “From today, our wall-writing campaign has started. It will be undertaken across the state and completed within a fixed timeframe.”

He said party workers would paint walls only after obtaining consent from owners, underlining that the exercise would be carried out with due permission.

“Through the slogans, we will highlight the work done by the BJP-led governments in the state over the last five to ten years,” he said, adding that the slogans would also reflect the party’s ideology.

As the wall-painting drive rolls out across Assam, Sarma said the BJP’s focus remained firmly on public service and seeking public support, setting the tone for an election campaign that the party intends to take directly to neighbourhoods and streets across the state.

Just two months left for the Assembly polls in Assam, BJP has started their work in the grassroot level and launching drives to boost the moral of the workers.

The party has already started the campaign and engaging every workers to stand with to speed up the campaigns in grassroot level.

Sarma said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are likely to win 103 of the 126 seats in the assembly polls expected to be held in March-April.

“The BJP and its allies will contest the 103 seats with full vigour. We don’t have much chance of winning in the remaining 23-24 seats. There will be a symbolic fight in those seats. Of the 103 where will give a good fight, the voters could give us 100, 90, or 80 seats,” Sarma stated.
