Assam CM opposes Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Miya Jatra’ through Guwahati, deems route unsafe

Guwahati, Jan 18: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday objected to Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay Yatra, expressing dissatisfaction about the chosen route through the city, citing the presence of medical colleges and nursing homes, deeming it inadvisable.

Sarma stated, ‘If Rahul Gandhi asked me for an alternative route, I would definitely give permission. I have repeatedly stated that no one can enter the city due to the presence of hospitals. However, if he insists on going through the city, I won’t involve the police immediately. Instead, I’ll file a violation case, and after the elections, I’ll take legal action and arrest him.’

He also accused the Gandhi family of being the most corrupt in the country, adding, ‘They are also duplicates because their family name itself is not Gandhi. People with fake driving licenses can be caught, but I don’t know the outcomes of roaming around with a fake title.’

Sarma concluded by stating, “This is not a ‘Nyay Jatra’; this is a ‘Miya Jatra’.”
