Guwahati, Feb 29: Former Assam Congress leader Rana Goswami joined BJP today in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP State President Bhabesh Kalita.

On February 28, Goswami had tendered his resignation from the Congress party.

Goswami an influential Congress leader had served as MP Lok Sabha from Jorhat.

Speaking to media after the formal induction programme, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed Rahul Gandhi for boycotting Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony , for which Congress has began its downfall.

Reacting on the future of Congress party, Sarma said that the Congress is going to be regional state party, and only name of the party will stay.
