Shillong, Sept 20: The Assam Don Bosco University in collaboration with the Genesis Max foundation will be organising the 1st North East Pride Cup Football tournament from September 24 in the city.
The North East Pride Cup is a 5-aside amateur tournament (knockout round) for players under the categories of 14, 16 and 19 in the 7 North Eastern States of India. The winner will be awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh.
The purpose of the tournament is to encourage football in the region in a safe and structured environment, while also developing psychosocial qualities like sportsmanship, team spirit, and leadership.
To mark and celebrate the centenary year of Don Bosco in India, 19 zone wise tournaments will be conducted in two phases across the North East India region wherein the schools and academies in each city can send their teams to participate.
The tournament in the State will be held in the below-mentioned zone:
Shillong
Mairang
Nongstoiñ
Tura &
Jowai
The winning teams from each tournament (per zone) will get a chance to come for Finale in Guwahati city and fight for the North East Pride Cup.
