Assam: Duo arrested with fake Indian currency in South Salmara Mankachar district

Guwahati, Jan 6: Two persons were arrested with fake Indian currency during a search operation in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district on Wednesday evening.

The persons have been identified as Saddam Hussein (25) and Mufizul Mandal(24).

Police seized Rs 14,000 fake Indian currency from their possession. They were arrested by the police officials of Kalapani police outpost.

“During a search operation both of them were arrested with 14,000 fake Indian currency. We immediately brought them to Kalapani police outpost and started interrogating them,” said a police official.

Sources said they procured the fake Indian currency from fake currency racketeers of Bangladesh.

“We have arrested both of them and they are suspected international FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes) racketeers. We are grilling them to find out whether they are part of any big racket or not,” said a police official.
