Assam: Two killed in a car accident in Tinsukia’s Dhola-Sadiya bridge

Guwahati, June 21: In a tragic incident, two people lost their lives in a road accident near Dhola-Sadiya Bridge in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Wednesday morning.

The accident took place in Doomdooma, when a swift car was hit by a dumper coming from behind.

Four people were in the vehicle, where two persons identified as Sukalyan Baruah and Ripunjoy Phukan died on the spot, while the other two identified as Ajanto Baruah and Ripun Sonowal sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition by the police.

On June 18, three youths were killed in a road accident after their motorcycle collided with a Tata Magic at Kakopathar in upper Assam Tinsukia district.

The three youths were identified as Manasjyoti Buragohain, Rupam Chutia and Santanu Phukan.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred after a Tata Magic carrying passengers collided with motorcycle which killed one individual on the spot, while two others later succumbed to their injuries.

Similarly, on June 16, 2023, four people killed in a road accident after their vehicle hit a tree near Golai terminal at Digboi in Tinsukia on Thursday night.

According to reports, after attending a marriage party in Dibrugarh they were returning back to destination, when the accident took place.

“Nine people so far killed in road accident in Tinsukia district within one week. Due to various reasons, the accident took place. We are organising various awareness programme to curb accidents but still people are not listening while driving,” said an traffic official.
