Assam’s Kamakhya temple to remain closed on June 22 for Ambubachi celebrations

Guwahati, June 20: On the occasion of Ambubachi Mahayoga, the Maa Kamakhya temple will remain closed on June 22.

Ambubachi Mahayoga, will be observed at the Maa Kamakhya temple from the midnight of June 22 to June 26.

“The Prabritti timing will be 2:30:42 am of June 23 and the door of Maa Kamakhya Devalaya will remain closed for devotees on June 23, 24 & 25. On June 26, the door will be open at 6 am in the morning for devotees after the Snan and Nitya Puja as per tradition,” stated Ambubachi Mahayog Parichalan Committee(AMPC).

The AMPC also informed that no special ticket of Rs 501 will be issued on June 26 & June 27. Moreover, VIP/VVIP passes will not be issued on June 26.

“There will no free lodging camp and free food distribution facilities for devotees in and around Nilachal Hill. Drinking water facilities, resting shades, medical camp and shoe counter will be set up at some points on the motorable road,” AMPC said.

It further said, “Devotees after entering the Devalaya Campus will exit from the East and West gates after doing Parikrama. Due to traffic congestion and other problems, devotees will be permitted to enter Nilachal Hill upto 9 PM only. Keeping in view of the heavy rush, the commitee appealed the general public not to come with little babies, aged persons and physically weak persons,”.

“The entire Nilachal Hill has been declared as no-smoking Zone. People under the influence of alcohol, drugs will not be allowed to enter Devalaya Complex. This year Devalaya has enaged 500 scouts/gudes, 400 volunteers, 100 private security personnel besides 120 regular security personnel. 400 CCTV cameras have been set up in all by Devalaya,” AMPC stated.

It further added, “100 cleaners besides 200 regular ones have been engaged to maintain cleanliness in and around Devalaya. For the devotees queuing up for darshan on the 26th June, temporary sheds, medical facilities, drinking water facilities are being set up at Bongshibagan area. Like every year, this year also Devalaya will provide food to all the service providers engaged during Ambubachi Mahayog”.
