Shillong, May 5: The Binong clan of Ri Bhoi on Friday organised a candlelight vigil at Nongpoh MUDA Complex to grief the death of late Walinda Binong (19), who died on April 27, 2023 in Rajasthan under suspicious circumstances.
Late Walinda was a Fashion Designing student at Mody University, Rajasthan. She was found dead in her hostel room on April 27, 2023. Rajasthan authorities have declared her death as a suicide after conducting a post-mortem. However, her family members have expressed disbelief, stating that she was a promising student who excelled in her studies and was due to receive a prize from the college.
The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), Nongpoh Area Women’s Welfare Association (NAWWA), the Seng Samla and hundreds of people gathered at MUDA complex to pay homage and to extend their condolences to the bereaved family members of the late Walinda.
