Shillong, Sept 21: The Rajya Sabha passed the Women’s Reservation Bill on Thursday, paving the way for it to become an Act.

The historic bill was passed with 215 MPs voting in favour of the Bill.

The Bill was passed by Lok Sabha on Wednesday 454 members supporting it and only 2 MPs opposing it.

The Bill grants 33% reservation to women in Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, in both general and SC/ST categories.
