Shillong, May 31: The Inspectors General BSF – Region Commanders BGB level Border Co-ordination Conference got underway at Sylhet, Bangladesh on Monday. Indian delegation led by Inspector General, BSF Tripura, Sumit Sharan, crossed over into Bangladesh through ICP Dawki, West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya on Monday where they were warmly welcomed by Border Guard Bangladesh.

The conference will conclude on June 2.
During the conference, issues of common concern pertaining to Trans- Border crimes, smugglings from International Border are being deliberated upon. Bottlenecks in the progress of infrastructure and developmental works on both sides of the border are also being resolved through discussions. The issues related with insurgency on either side of the border will also be talked over in length.
Such conferences help in having a better understanding and improvement of border management. It also acts as Confidence Building Measures between both the Border Guarding Forces. The last such border coordination conference was held at Shillong, Meghalaya in November 2021.
