Byrnihat witnessed another broad day light robbery

Nongpoh, June 23: In a very dangerous broad day light robbery case, one person miraculously escaped from danger and saved his money bag from being snatched away by unknown bike-borne robbers.

The incident occured on Thursday afternoon at around 12 noon at Amjok Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi District.

According to the information, the incident occured while one Sahil Jaman Passah was on his way back home after withdrawing his money from the State Bank of India (SBI) located at Amjok Byrnihat. Two people on bike tried to snatch his bag but luckily the robbers weren’t successful in their attempt and fled from the spot.

Passah tried to chase the robbers and with the help of his friend managed to track the bike at 15 Mile in Byrnihat. Eventually, one person was detained by the local people but the second person managed to flee.

The person detained by the locals was handed over to Police in Byrnihat Police Outpost and the pulsar bike, with registered number AS 13 M 9065, used for attempted robbery was also detained. FIR has also been lodged at the Outpost and the investigation is on to nab the other miscreants involved in the crime.

Secretary Shnong of Amjok Rajesh Lapang told the press that this is not the first case of broad daylight robbery in the Byrnihat area and that these kind of crimes have been taking place quite often of late. He also recalled a recent case whereby one person lose around Rs. 2 lakh in the same style of robbery.

The village authority has asked the concerned department to take serious note on such incidents and to deploy police personnel in Amjok area, which is the busiest area in Byrnihat with many banks located in it.
