Guwahati, May 10: In a major crackdown against illicit drug trafficking, Cachar police have seized 572 grams of heroin worth Rs 3 crore from ISBT Silchar in Assam on Thursday.
The contraband was smuggled from a neighbouring state. Three suspects have been arrested in the drug peddling case.
“After getting a tip off regarding the illegal trafficking of drugs. The joint team launched an operation and seized the contraband from the possession of the persons involved in drug trafficking,” said a police official.
Recently, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police seized 420 grams of heroin from an Alto vehicle in Boko, Kamrup.
According to police, a total of 30 packets containing heroin, weighing 420 grams, were seized.
The accused individuals, identified as Kabel Uddin (33 years old) and Sabur Ali (52 years old), hail from Goroimari village under the jurisdiction of Barpeta Police Station.
