The Meghalaya police, in their continuous efforts to combat the drug menace, revealed critical insights into drug abuse and trafficking during the DREAM program at the U Soso Tham auditorium on Tuesday. Director General of Meghalaya Police, LR Bishnoi, highlighted the alarming situation, emphasizing the state's sensitivity due to its proximity to the notorious Golden Triangle.

In its relentless drive to combat the menace of drug trafficking in the state, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of East Khasi Hills on Friday apprehended three drug traffickers in Shillong City.

Joseph Hmangaih Zuala from South Aizawl, Mizoram was arrested from a night super bus (AS 01 LC 6216) at Nongsning village along NH-6, district police chief Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.

The three suspects, identified as Vishma Deb Burma (35), Budhiram Deb Burma (34), and Jyotish Deb Burma (26), all residents of Bishramganj in the bordering Sepahijala district of Tripura, have been taken into custody
