Tura, Aug 25: In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of West Garo Hills intercepted a night super bus from Guwahati to Tura and seized suspected narcotics on Saturday.
The bus, bearing registration number ML 08G 4799, was stopped based on reliable inputs, leading to the arrest of two passengers — Cheyanjring R. Marak (27) of Captain Bagan, Tura, and Jemisha A. Sangma (22) of Tura Wadanang Jangga.
During the search, the ANTF recovered 9.87 grams of brown/orange powder, suspected to be heroin, from their possession.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and investigation is underway.
