Shillong, June 23: A vehicle parked in the Cleve Colony area of Shillong was allegedly broken into by unidentified miscreants, who smashed a window and stole the car’s LCD screen, according to a complaint lodged with the police.
The incident reportedly occurred between the morning of June 20 and June 21, when the vehicle was parked on the roadside in front of a residence in Cleve Colony under the jurisdiction of Laitumkhrah Police Station.
According to the complaint, the vehicle owner discovered on the morning of June 21 that the rear right-side window had been completely shattered. Upon inspection, the car’s LCD screen was found missing, leading to suspicion that unknown persons had broken into the vehicle during the night and carried out the theft.
The estimated loss, including the stolen LCD screen and damage to the vehicle’s window, is understood to be around ₹29,000.
An FIR has been registered at Laitumkhrah Police Station and further investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the theft.
No arrests have been reported so far.
