Guwahati, May 15: Two Assam police personnel including a lady constable have sustained grievous injuries after they were allegedly attacked by four members of a family in Assam’s Cachar district, officials said.
Police have arrested four persons from the same family under the charges of attempt to murder in this connection.

The cops went to catch a suspected cattle smuggler when the family members attacked the officials with sharp weapons leaving them grievously injured, police sources added.
The incident happened at Gumrah area near India-Bangladesh international border in Cachar district on Tuesday morning and the injured police personnel were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).

After rescuing the injured police personnel, the other officials detained Abdul Wahid, his wife Abida Begum, daughter Kulasma Begum and son Rohit Ahmed Barbhuyan.
Later a case was registered against them in Gumrah Police Station under several sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and they were arrested, officials said.
