Tura, May 9: In a highly anticipated match on Thursday, Chipakkore FC faced Selsella SA in the fifteenth match of the Tura Football League at the GBHSS Chnadmary Football Turf in Tura.
This matchup held significant weight, as Selsella SA had a golden opportunity to claim the top spot if they defeated Chipakkore FC, who were just two points ahead.
Right from the first whistle, Chipakkore FC made attempts, and in the 15th minute, Brojen Muchahary opened the scoring with the team’s first goal. Chipakkore asserted their dominance further when Brainsbirth G Momin secured two goals for the team in the 22nd and 40th minutes, respectively, closing the first half with a 3-0 lead.
Selsella SA struggled in the entire first half, making unsuccessful attempts and failing to penetrate their opponents’ defense.
After halftime, Chipakkore continued to dominate, with Akim R Sangma scoring a goal deep into the net in the 53rd minute. Following the lead, Brainsbirth again found the net with a free kick in the 64th minute.
Meanwhile, Selsella faced challenges in maintaining ball possession, with many unsuccessful attempts, and Simprang M Marak receiving a yellow card in the 64th minute.
Despite heavy rainfall later in the second half, Chipakkore’s Brainsbirth G Momin scored his fourth goal of the match in the 71st minute. And Akim R Sangma, just after receiving a yellow card in the 76th minute, managed to evade Selsella’s defenders and secure his second goal in the 77th minute.
After a dry spell of about seventy minutes, Selsella SA finally registered a goal when Chichang Momin scored from right outside the penalty box in the 79th minute.
Chipakkore FC maintained their dominance until the final whistle and emerged victorious with a 7-1 win against Selsella SA.
With this win, Chipakkore has taken a five-point lead in the table with a total of twelve points, while Selsella SA sits in second place with seven points.
