Dimapur, July 17: The Chümoukedima district administration has lifted restrictions on the transportation, slaughter, sale and movement of pigs and pork in Toulouzuma and adjoining villages after the area was declared free of African Swine Fever (ASF).
In an order issued on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Polan John said the decision was taken following a report from the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer confirming that no fresh cases or pig deaths due to ASF had been recorded within the declared containment zone.
Based on the “nil incidence” report and the prevailing disease situation, the Veterinary Department certified the area as free from African Swine Fever and recommended the withdrawal of restrictions imposed under an order issued on May 25.
The administration said the earlier ban has been lifted with immediate effect.
However, authorities said disease surveillance and routine monitoring would continue in the area to prevent any fresh outbreak. The district administration has also directed that any suspected case of ASF be reported immediately to the Veterinary Department and the district administration for prompt action.
The order has been circulated to all concerned departments, village councils and the public for compliance.
