Shillong, May 1: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday, presented a citation to Elambok Dkhar, a young boy who saved a girl from drowning at the Rilang River in Wahsiej in West Khasi Hills.
Elambok, a resident of Wahsiej village in South West Khasi Hills District, was honored for his exceptional bravery.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said in a social media post, “Presented citation to Master Elambok Dkhar of Wahsiej village, South West Khasi Hills District, as a token of recognition and appreciation for his exceptional bravery, which prevented the loss of a precious life.”
“While saluting his courage, I hope that Master Elambok becomes an icon of inspiration and courage to all our fellow citizens,” added the Chief Minister of Meghalaya.
A third life was saved by the timely and brave intervention of Master Elambok, who overcame his apprehension of the river and saved the young girl.

It may be noted that on April 21, 2024, a tragic incident occurred at the Rilang River, Wahsiej, in which two young people lost their lives in a drowning incident. However, a third life was saved by the timely and brave intervention of Elambok, who overcame his apprehension of the river and saved the young girl.
