CM inaugurates new school building in Williamnagar

Williamnagar, Nov 26: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today inaugurated the newly constructed school building of Rongrenggre Model Deficit Secondary School at Chidekgre near Williamnagar in presence of Williamnagar MLA and the Govt. Chief Whip, Marcuise N Marak, the Director of Higher and Technical Education, Ambrose Ch Marak, former GHADC Chairman, Denang T Sangma, East Garo Hills, Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe, CEO of Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL), PK Swamy and other dignitaries.

Inaugurating the school building worth Rs. 1.6 crores, the chief minister lauded the HSCL for completing the construction within a very short span of time and said that the Govt’s first priority is to create policies and one of the priorities of his Govt. is to improve education in the state.

Highlighting the efforts of the Govt. to improve the education in the state, the chief minister said that Rs. 500 crores have been earmarked for the education department in this financial year and Rs. 800 crores have been received from the Central Govt. for Ekalavya Model Residential Schools in Meghalaya.

He also informed that Rs. 200 crores special fund have also been received from the Central Govt. for improving the infrastructures in education in the state. He further informed that the scholarship for the students in the state have also been enhanced and said that the Youth Policy will be finalized by January next year to promote the skill and talent of the youth.

Speaking on the occasion, Williamnagar MLA, Marcuise N Marak lauded the school management for the efforts to uplift the school and urged the students to bring name and fame for their school.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by the President of the school PG Momin and the vote of thanks was proposed by the Headmaster, Robinus T Sangma.
