Agartala, Jan 6:With elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) expected within the next two months, Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, on Tuesday led a massive roadshow at Manu in the remote Dhalai district, drawing a large turnout, particularly from the indigenous population.
Travelling in an open-top vehicle, the Chief Minister was greeted by enthusiastic crowds lining the roadside. Many supporters, dressed in traditional tribal attire, showered flower petals as the convoy passed through the area.

Speaking to the media, Saha said such levels of public enthusiasm are usually witnessed during visits by the Prime Minister or the Union Home Minister. He claimed that the scale of participation in Manu reflected growing public confidence in the state leadership.
The Chief Minister said the response was indicative of the likely outcome of the forthcoming TTAADC elections as well as the 2028 Tripura Assembly polls.
According to Saha, the overwhelming public support demonstrated people’s faith in the development initiatives undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the “double-engine” government. He stressed that restoration of peace and improved law and order in Tripura and the wider northeastern region have been among the most significant achievements of the present dispensation.
Highlighting the Centre’s welfare initiatives, Saha said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government remains committed to development without discrimination or political considerations. He cited schemes related to road construction, drinking water supply, LPG connections, electricity, housing under PMAY, and health coverage under PMJAY and the Mukhyamantri Jana Arogya Yojana.

Noting that nearly 75 per cent of Tripura’s population resides in rural areas, the Chief Minister said women, in particular, have experienced significant socio-economic empowerment, leading to increased confidence among the people.
“The BJP believes in performance, not just dialogue,” Saha said, adding that this approach has translated into visible public support on the ground.
Referring to national development, he said India’s rapid economic growth and rising GDP are outcomes of strong leadership at the Centre.
In recent weeks, the Chief Minister has intensified outreach in TTAADC areas by participating in multiple public programmes and tribal events, as the BJP seeks to strengthen its presence in the autonomous council regions.
The heightened political activity has also coincided with growing differences between the BJP and its alliance partner, the Tipra Motha Party, which currently holds power in the TTAADC, ahead of the forthcoming district council elections.
