Committees constituted to study and submit report: Conrad on Assam-Meghalaya boundary dispute

Shillong, Aug 20: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma informed that three committees have been constituted by the Government to study and submit detailed report on the disputed areas along the Assam – Meghalaya border.

He said that Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong will head the committee for Ri-bhoi district, which will include three other MLAs from the area, including Deputy Commissioner as member secretary. The committee will inspect the disputed area in the district and submit its reports.

Similarly in West Khasi Hills, Cabinet Minister Renikton Lyngdoh will head the committee, which will include MLAs and DCs of the district.

In East Jaintia Hills, Cabinet Minister Snaiwbhalang Dhar will head the committee along with Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, and two other MLAs and DC of the district.

Chief Minister informed that Assam has also notified similar committee and have initiated the works, and once the report comes up, there will be joint visits and the two State governments will meet again.
