CoMSO seeks Governor’s intervention for ILP

Shillong, Dec 4: As the demand for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) goes in full swing. The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations (CoMSO) displayed a banner in the city today, ‘BJP don’t Play double standard. Meghalaya BJP cannot say yes to ILP and Central BJP say no to ILP, show your true colour,’.

Roy kupar Syndrem, the leaders of CoMSO met the State Governor Satyapal Malik on Friday seeking his intervention in regards to ILP.
Roy kupar in speaking to media said, “Today five of us met with the Governor seeking his intervention with the Union Home Ministry with regards to the implementation of ILP in the state, so in the first issue we explain him why indigenous people need ILP as we need special protection in the form of ILP system.”

According to the CoMSO, the Governor give assurance and support to the organization. “He has told us whatever is in his capacity as the Governor of the State he will do in intervening this issue with the union Home ministry,” Roy Kupar said.

Regarding Meghalaya Resident Safety and Security bill, according to CoMSO, the Governor told the Anti-Influx Group, that the bill is still in his office for future study since it was passed in his predecessor’s tenure.

Roy Kupar said the Governor assured us that if this Bill is for the protection of people of the State, safety, and security of the residents then he can always give his consent. The Governor asks the Anti influx groups to be patient and wait for the right time even as he assured them to look into the matter.

Visibly happy after meeting the Governor, said it was a cordial discussion and the action of the Governor matches with the words that he spoke.
