Congress’ campaign vehicle attacked in Tripura, party accuses BJP

Agartala, Jan 15: Four trucks of Congress, which were hired from Uttar Pradesh for campaigning in poll bound Tripura, were attacked by at Sidhai Mohanpur area of Tripura on Sunday.

Nation Secretary and AICC incharge Tripura, Szarita Laitphlang, alleged that the attackers belonging to the ruling BJP not only attacked the vehicles and smashed LEDs and windshields of the vehicles but also robbed four generator sets.

The area where the vehicles were attacked is the constituency of Law and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who was also a Congress leader before he joined BJP in 2017.

She added that one scotty used by the attackers, bearing registration number TR-04-AT-5104, has been identified and Congress is lodging police complaint.

She also asked if the Election Commission of India will look in the matter and if opposition parties will be allowed to campaign and if any democracy exists in Tripura.
