Shillong, Nov 27: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, on Monday highlighted the 5 Point Agenda of the government, which the government wants to achieve in few years. The 5 Point Agenda is: Road for All, Power for All, Housing for All, Information for All and Water for All.
As he inaugurated several key road infrastructures in East Garo Hills on Monday, CM Sangma said, “We have a five point agenda that is Road for All, Power for All, Housing for All, Information for All and Water for All that we are working on a Saturation Model that we would like to achieve in the next few years.”
With roads being one of the thrust areas of the government, he said roads are very crucial for the development of any place as without roads no development can come.
The roads and bridges he inaugurated are: L051-Nengmandalgre to Daribokgre (Mandalgre) Road of 35 kms, L042 Cherangre to Sisobibra (Nengmandalgre to Gitokgre) Road of 7.820 kms, Long Span Bridge of 51.68 metres over river Rongon, and long span bridge of 51.68 metres over river Rongre.

He stated that the roads inaugurated are very important for the development of the region and informed that for 2023-2024 under the PMAY, Rs. 1600 crores have been sanctioned for 1500 houses and he thanked the Member of Parliament, Agatha K Sangma, for facilitating the same. He also informed that Meghalaya is one of the best performing states in PMGSY.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, said that the roads will be a blessing for economic, health, educational and day to day activities for the people of the surrounding villages and stated that the government is ensuring that development reaches every village. He said that under PMGSY 1200 kms of road length will be developed across the State. He further solicited the cooperation of nokmas, sordars and land owners in the land acquisition for development of roads for the larger interest and benefit of the people of the state.
The total sanction cost for Long Span Bridge over Rongre river Jakopgre to Nengmandalgre Road is Rs. 176.969 lakhs and for Long Span Brodge over Rongon river Jakopgre to Nengmandal Road is Ts. 151.140 lakhs.
