Shillong, July 4: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has sought an appointment with the union defence minister Rajnath Singh for transferring of cantonment board land to the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB).
“I have sought an appointment with the defence minister regarding the cantonment board land which is proposed to be transferred to the municipal board which is a civil area…,” Sangma told reporters on Monday before flying to New Delhi.
He however said that he is yet to get an appointment with the defence minister.
Sangma said during his official visit to the national capital, he would also meet the union education minister to discuss the issues related to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
“We will discuss the CUET and how to find a solution to it in the long run in terms of setting up more centres in the state and also having examinations which students could not attend last time,” he said while adding that other issues relating to the education department will also be discussed during the meeting.
In view of the power crisis in the state, the chief minister said that he would also meet the chairman of the NTPC to discuss some power plants in Meghalaya.
“I will be meeting the officials of the international solar mission. I will be visiting their office and this again is in line with the CM’s Solar Mission. We would like to see how we could collaborate and how they could be of support to our mission, maybe in solar energy,” he said.
He informed that he is also planning to meet the union commerce minister.
