Shillong, Nov 23: Meghalaya’s girls team delivered the state’s first win in the BCCI domestic cricket season in any category by defeating Nagaland by seven wickets in the Women’s U-15 One Day Trophy in Kolkata.
The match took place on Tuesday, the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) informed.
Made to bat first after losing the toss, Nagaland were restricted to 74/7 in a reduced innings of 35 overs. Meghalaya then chased this down in 15.1 overs and with seven wickets in hand.
Diya Biswa was Meghalaya’s most successful bowler, with figures of 3/14 in 7 overs, while Jennyfer Fancon took 2/8 in 7 and Dejianna M Sangma 2/11 in 7.
In the chase, Anastesia Shullai carried her bat with an unbeaten 21 at the top of the order, while Zoya Tasneem made 11.
Meghalaya have played four matches so far in the tournament, losing three, including on Thursday against Delhi. The fifth and final match will be against Karnataka on Saturday.
